Having said that, Google is limiting its feature set for some reason, which means you can’t use the new option to pay from your wrist. It is possible that Google is afraid of the repercussions caused by any possible mishaps that may draw unwanted attention from bad actors towards the smartwatch.

The new Unlock feature is likely to roll out on Android 13-based devices as the new version has got the Active Unlock API for the said feature to work through connected devices like the Pixel Watch. The Pixel Watch has had a limited reach in the market for now, with Google having no plans to expand its availability to countries like India, where it will bring its flagship Pixel 7 series phones in 2022 after a gap of nearly three years.
