Goa: Positivity rate drops to 3% but doctors call for caution Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: Goa reported 126 fresh infections, one fatality and 134 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 1,779. matter positivity The rate fell to 3% on Thursday against 4% on Wednesday.

The weekly case positivity stands at 3.64% against 4.17% a week ago.
While there have been pluses and minuses in daily infections, Betodkar said he did not see any major increase in any sector, and if so, the government would be informed immediately. “Our fervent request to those who have not yet been vaccinated, please do so at the earliest. People should continue to take measures as restrictions are gradually being lifted,” Betodkar said.
South Goa has more active cases with Margao, Ponda and Cortalim having higher caseloads.
The projected third wave is likely to hit in August-September. Experts say the state will have a buffer if a large segment of the population is vaccinated, provided no new variant more deadly than Delta makes its way.
The state government has set a target to vaccinate 11.5 lakh adult population with the first dose by the end of this month. Till Wednesday, 7.48 lakh people had been partially vaccinated and 1.89 lakh people had been vaccinated with both doses.
