He claimed that the party would not win a majority in the upcoming assembly elections in the state, reported ANI.

He also talked about the recent resignations of former Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Utpal Parrikar, son of late Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The Shiv Sena MP said that both the former chief ministers played an important role in strengthening the BJP in the state.

On Friday, former chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar resigned from the BJP after the party refused him a ticket in the Panaji constituency, instead fielding defector Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate of the Congress party.

Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2022

With the term of the current Goa Legislative Assembly ending on March 15, the Goa Legislative Assembly elections will be held in one phase, i.e. in the second phase of the 2022 Assembly elections. The date of polling in Goa is February 14, 2021.

The counting of votes is to be held on March 10, 2021.

Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2017

The last election in Goa was held on February 4, 2017, in which Congress emerged as the single largest party with 17 MLAs. The election results marked the beginning of a hung assembly in the state, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning 13 seats in the 40-member assembly.

The BJP was successful in forming the government with the support of regional parties and independent candidates.
