Goa Election 2022: Shiv Sena-NCP to decide on seat sharing formula and list of candidates today

Goa Election 2022: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut announced that his party will contest the upcoming elections in alliance with Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The seat-sharing formula is going to be discussed between the two parties and the final list is likely to be announced today.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told ANI on Sunday that there will be a discussion on seat-sharing between the two parties on January 18.

Significantly, there was speculation about Congress giving some seats to Shiv Sena and NCP in Goa. Sanjay Raut had also met former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in this regard, but as it turned out, the alliance partner Congress will contest alone in Maharashtra. Raut said the Congress has its “compulsions” regarding seat-sharing in Goa.

But now it is clear that Shiv Sena and NCP will contest the elections separately from Congress.

Shiv Sena is leaving behind Utpal Parrikar, son of former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar. He tweeted, “If Utpal Parrikar contests as an independent from Panaji seat, I propose to support his candidature to all non-BJP parties including AAP, Congress, TMC and Goa Forward Party and not stand against him. to do.”

“It will be a true tribute to Manoharbhai!” she added.

The seat sharing formula will be clear today. Sanjay Raut said, “Our list of candidates is ready. The seat sharing will be discussed on January 18 and after that we will announce the list of candidates.”

Goa assembly elections will be held in one phase i.e. in the second phase of the 2022 assembly elections. The date of polling in Goa is 14 February 2021.
