Goa Assembly Election 2022: Sharad Pawar in talks with Congress and Trinamool for alliance | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar Said on Tuesday that his party is in talks with him Trinamool Congress and Congress for alliance in Goa.
Goa goes to the polls on February 14, when all 40 assembly seats will go to polls in a single phase. The results will be declared on March 10.
“NCP leader Praful Patel, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut are talking to local Congress leaders there,” Pawar told reporters in Mumbai.
“There is a general feeling that BJP should lose there and talks are on with like-minded parties,” he said.
Assembly elections in Goa this year are likely to be multi-cornered as both the Trinamool Congress and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party are set to make their mark in the state.
Mamta Banerjee, who is trying to spread her Trinamool Congress out of West Bengal, has already made her intention clear by dodging many Congress leaders.
In the 2017 assembly elections, Congress emerged as the single largest party with 17 seats. However, the BJP, which won 13 seats, managed to form the government with the help of allies.
Meanwhile, the Congress has been marginalized in the coastal state as it has lost most of its MLAs to other parties.
It will be interesting to see how the Congress reacts to Pawar’s proposed alliance talks after a heated argument with the Trinamool Congress over poaching of leaders.
The Congress on Monday had categorically denied any alliance talks with the Trinamool Congress.
Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal had tweeted: “The rumor discussed by Shri @RahulGandhi on a possible alliance with TMC in today’s meeting is completely baseless and untrue. I assure the Congress party is convinced – we Goa Will bring it back soon. Path of progress soon.”
The Trinamool seems to be softening its stand on joining hands with the oldest party in the state after attacking the Congress.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with senior Congress leaders last night on the party’s strategy Goa Election,
Opinion polls have predicted a victory for the BJP in the state, with the Aam Aadmi Party emerging as the major challenger to the ruling party.
