Maharashtra’s Tourism and Environment Minister Adita Thackeray also delivered a speech at the event. Ananya Panday, Madhuri Dixit and Riteish Deshmukh were among the first celebrities to deliver speeches at the event. He spoke on issues like poverty, vaccination and climate change.

Sadhguru Jagdish Vasudev delivered a passionate speech about protecting the planet from climate change. He said, “This is the first time in the history of humanity that we have to talk about protecting the planet. Our generation has taken the biggest bite out of this planet. Everything we do for the environment and ecology today is what we do.” There is no great service, no great achievement. It’s just a matter of survival. It’s not the planet that is in peril, it’s our life. We are in this exploitative situation, not by choice, but by compulsion The only solution is consciousness. Turning inward is the only solution, as this planet is being destroyed in search of human welfare. We need to realize that, human experience originates entirely from within. Ecology and human consciousness cannot be separated. None of this would be necessary if humans understood whether we, like it or not, we resonate as a part of this existence. This understanding and is the experience that we want to bring to humanity. But want to bring awareness. We want to uncover solutions and make ecological and environmental issues as electoral issues. As a part of this, we are working towards the global goal of planting one trillion trees. We are coming together to make a conscious planet. We want everyone’s heart to beat for this. We want every human hand to participate. This is going to happen only when humanity starts thinking and working together. Let’s make it a reality.”

Janhvi Kapoor listed ways to help human beings fight climate change. She said, “I have high hopes tonight. Hope, that if we work together, we can write a new story for our planet. A story in which humans are not a threat to the planet Earth. Humans are the primary cause of climate change, so the solution is also in our hands. You may wonder how your efforts can solve the global crisis. But the truth is, even small efforts like using public transportation or carpooling, or carrying your own shopping bags, or planting a tree, will take years to make a big effort. Because all stories should have a happy ending, shouldn’t we too?”

Indian megastar Amitabh Bachchan talks about fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and emerging from its devastating impact. “The pandemic of COVID-19 has been a nightmare for the entire humanity. In addition to destroying and sabotaging our ship of development, we have also suffered the trauma of a new kind of cultural trauma. A shiver and panic in which dirt is scattered randomly in every direction. The medical fraternity is risking their lives to save more and more lives. Some are trying to impose orders and administer. Some are falling in faith, some are simply falling under stress and giving their lives. Death was once again at the door. how am i dying? what am i dying for? Is this life? An injury, a virus, pain and death? No, not at all. Life is not about an injury, life is not an accident. This is not a fight against a virus, life is not a funeral service. Holding hands and getting up is life. And so I say to everyone, take my hand and let us rise together,” he said.

Recalling his own COVID-19 experience, Arjun Kapoor urged people to get vaccinated. “At this time last year, I was diagnosed with Covid-19. I was distraught and distraught when I heard the news. It took me 6-8 hours to muster up the courage to talk to the doctors. Emotionally, the healing process was something I had never experienced before, because no one knew what to expect. We still don’t know for sure, the long-term effects of the virus. We all know that Covid-19 is still very much around. In such an unpredictable scenario, there is only one way we can fight the virus. And that is vaccination for every person on this planet. The virus doesn’t discriminate, so why should we?”

Sara Ali Khan also chose the cause of vaccination and appealed to the people to educate the hesitant. He said, “All the pain and suffering that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the entire world, the truth is that it has united us for a common cause. This pandemic has shown us that no matter where you come from, we are all vulnerable to this difficult time. That’s why we have to fight this virus together. Thanks to our scientist, we have a weapon to fight this, the vaccine. I know there are still people among us who are worried about the vaccine and are afraid to take it. But I firmly believe that it is our duty to educate and guide everyone. Be it through your social media platforms or through personal interactions, take proactive initiatives to talk about the benefits and requirements of this vaccine. Because only then can we rebuild, reset and rejuvenate.”

Dia Mirza, who is the UN ambassador and climate warrior, urged major economies to pay them to help poor countries fight climate change. “It is clear, that what happens in the future depends on the actions of today. The bigger issue is that the countries most affected are the poorest in the world. And it is not the poor countries to solve, but those most affected. continue to live with more consequences. This is just not fair. For developing countries like my home country India, which has large vulnerable populations, the challenge is huge. For India, by the end of the century, the global temperature will drop by 3 degrees or more. A rise above that will severely compromise lives and livelihoods, as sea levels rise, crop yields drop, infrastructure damages and other challenges emerge. This was evident in 2020, as floods and Cyclones had left the most deaths globally, as part of climate change-triggered events in India. While we were still grappling with the devastating events of COVID-19. The frequency and intensity of such disasters is clearly increasing. Which has disastrous consequences for millions of our people. Therefore, we are one of the poorest countries facing climate change. Let us take this moment to call on the G20 to fulfill its promise to provide an additional $100 billion annually to help. Without these funds, our country would be left helpless. Only a few countries are paying their rent share and many big economies like USA, UK, Japan, France are lacking. Please world leaders, let’s take the world to a better place for all,” she said.

Before concluding the Indian segment and announcing Ajay-Atul’s performance, Anil Kapoor said, “This evening, we dream of a future where no one goes to bed hungry. We need to provide the world’s billionaires and the G7 economies with the $6 billion that is urgently needed so that millions of food can reach the brink of starvation.

Meanwhile, the event also saw performances by global artists including Coldplay, BTS, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. Priyanka Chopra also gave a speech on this occasion.
