Ghajini to Wanted, Hindi remake of South films which was a super hit at the box office

The South Indian film industry has become a major force in North India especially in the last few years. The recently released films like Pushpa: The Rise and Akhand were well received by the Hindi film audience.

Reports claim that the Hindi version of Allu Arjun starrer film Pushpa earned around Rs 90 crore at the box office.

Talking about other Hindi remakes, in 2008, Ghajini starring Aamir Khan and Asin became the first film to earn Rs 100 crore at the box office. It was the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ghajini.

Akshay Kumar’s first 100 crore film Rowdy Rathore in 2012 was also a Hindi remake of Telugu film Vikramarkudu. Singham, directed by Rohit Shetty, was a remake of the Tamil hit film Singham, starring Ajay Devgn.

Wanted, 2009, a Hindi action thriller directed by Prabhu Deva, starred superstar Salman Khan. The film was a remake of the Telugu film Pokiri. Bodyguard was also a remake of Malayalam film Bodyguard.

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam, 2015, is a remake of Malayalam hit film Drishyam. This suspense thriller also starred Tabu as a police officer and was a blockbuster at the box office.

Recently Selfie starring Emraan Hashmi and Akshay Kumar has been announced. This upcoming film will be a remake of Malayalam film, Driving License (2019). The shooting of the film will start soon and it is said that it will release on the silver screen next year.

It is also being said that the director of the recently released film Pushpa is planning to release the Hindi version of the hit film Rangasthala starring Sukumar Samantha and Ram Charan.
