A German woman was sentenced to six months in prison after she was convicted of sexual assault for secretly poking holes in her partner’s condoms. The Daily Mail reported that the woman sabotaged her partner’s condoms without his knowledge so she could become pregnant.

Judge Astrid Salewski who handed out the ruling in the regional court of Bielefeld said legal history was written after the woman was charged with ‘stealthing’. ‘Stealthing’ normally involves men removing or sabotaging their condom during intercourse without the woman’s knowledge.

WHAT IS THE CASE?

The case involved a 39-year-old woman who was reportedly in a casual relationship with a 42-year-old man. The two met in 2021 and would meet up regularly. The court said the woman wished to change the nature of their relationship by getting pregnant. However, she was unsuccessful in her attempt to get pregnant.

However, the woman falsely informed her partner that she was pregnant by sabotaging the condoms without his knowledge. The man responded by filing a criminal charge against her.

The woman was initially facing charges of rape but it was later reduced to sexual assault.

Judge Salewski told the court that the provision for stealthing also applies in the reverse case where it is the woman who committed the act. “The condoms were rendered unusable without the man’s knowledge or his consent. No means no here as well,” she added.
