As Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that a statue of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose would be installed at India Gate in New Delhi to mark his 125th birth anniversary on January 23, News18 asked Netaji’s daughter Anita Bose. Spoke about the grand program.

Bose told News18 that it was “very proud” and hoped “artistically and the hologram would be great”.

He said he was “surprised” by the news of the installation of his statue as it had been in the news for a long time.

During a telephonic interview with News18 from Germany, she said, “I wanted to come to India to celebrate his 125th birth anniversary, but could not due to COVID-19.”

On West Bengal rejecting the Republic Day tableau, Bose said he hoped “a sensible settlement has been reached”.

He said, ‘It would have been better that they did not refuse the tableau of Bengal. There is nothing wrong in having more than one tableau on Netaji.

Asked whether Netaji got his due date, Bose said, “To some extent yes. Although late but may be due to widespread uncertainty about his disappearance. Though the whole of India follows him.” He is the Netaji of India. It makes me proud.”
