GA won’t win a single seat in bypolls: BJP Guwahati News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: The BJP on Wednesday said that it is not at all worried about the bypolls to the five vacant seats. Mariani, Thaura, Majulik, Tamulpur and Gosaigaon – The Congress-led Grand Alliance (GA) will not win a single seat.
Ruling BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita said, “The BJP-led alliance will win all the seats in the bypolls. The Grand Alliance will not win even a single seat. Meanwhile, we learned that Hagrama Mohilary’s Bodoland People’s Front has also left the Grand Alliance.
He said the battle for the ballot papers would be fought as per the pre-poll alliance formed with its allies – Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL). “Tamulpur and Gosaigaon are UPPL seats as per the pre-poll alliance formed before the assembly elections. UPPL lost the Gosaigaon seat to the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and won the Tamulpur seat. Unfortunately, the MLAs of Gosaigaon and Tamulpur died due to COVID-19. As far as other seats are concerned, BJP will win.
Mariani and Thaura seats have fallen vacant after Rupjyoti Kurmi and Sushant Borgohain quit the Congress and joined the BJP, while Majuli seat fell vacant after former CM Sarbananda Sonowal, who won the 2021 assembly elections, joined the Union Cabinet.
After Leho Ram Boro, the seats of Tamulpur and Gosaigaon have become vacant. Majendra Narjara Kovid-19 died.
Meanwhile, speculation about joining the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has intensified. Legislator from Bhawanipur constituency Phani Talukdar Soon BJP will also have a by-election in Bhabnipur if the MLA joins the BJP.
