G7 Summit: PM Modi meets UK, Japan and Italy counterparts in Germany

Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Monday, on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Elmau, Germany, he met his counterparts from Britain, Japan and Italy and exchanged views with them on a range of issues. PM Modi also met President Mackie Sal of Senegal, Director General of World Had fruitful discussions with Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela.

Modi tweeted about his meetings with world leaders including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. “Glad to have a conversation with Prime Minister @BorisJohnson,” he said.

“Great conversation with Prime Minister of Japan @kishida230 at the G7 summit,” Modi said. “Glad to meet Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi on the sidelines of the @G7 summit,” he said in a series of tweets.

Modi is in Germany on a two-day visit starting Sunday for the G-7 summit to be held at Schloss Elmau, the summit site in southern Germany. Modi is attending the G7 summit following the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Besides India, Germany, the host of the G7 summit, has also invited Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa as guests to recognize the democracies of the Global South as their partners.

From Germany, Modi will travel to the United Arab Emirates on June 28 to condole the death of former Gulf President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Khalifa passed away on May 13 after battling the disease for the past several years.
