From Sher Shah to Bhuj: The Pride of India, patriotic movies you can watch on Independence Day

Mumbai: People from all walks of life 75 of India . will celebrateth Independence Day on Sunday (15th August) with full fervor and enthusiasm. This day is quite significant as it reminds us of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to get freedom from the British Raj.

Though the COVID-19 crisis has affected the celebrations, one should not let the pandemic dampen the spirit. Bollywood filmmakers have made many films which evoke the spirit of patriotism. On the occasion of Independence Day 2021, one can binge-watch these movies.

Interestingly, two films based on the Indo-Pak war have recently released on the OTT platform. From new releases to all-time classics, here’s a list of movies you can watch on August 15th.

Shershaah

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer ‘Shershaah’ premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video on August 12, 2021. The biographical war drama, produced by Karan Johar, depicts the story of Captain Vikram Batra, who was martyred during the Kargil War. The film has received good reviews from critics and audience when it released on OTT. ‘Sher Shah’ is a saga of valor, courage and might.

Bhuj: The Pride of India

Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’, which is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, premiered on August 13 on Disney+ Hotstar. Touted as the biggest release on OTT, the period war film showcased the story of the IAF. Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who rebuilt the IAF airbase with the help of his team members and 300 local women from Madhapar. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharad Kelkar, Ammi Virk and Nora Fatehi in lead roles.

Uri: The Surgical Strike

Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ created panic with its release at the box office. The action film directed by Aditya Dhar featured the Indian Army’s surgical strike on Pakistani terrorists in response to the 2016 Uri attack on the Army’s Brigade Headquarters.

Who said that only security officers can serve the country? Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Raazi’ tells the story of a young Kashmiri woman who, following her father’s request, gets married to a Pakistani military officer. The much-loved espionage thriller is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel Calling Sehmat. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal played the lead roles in the critically acclaimed film, which released in 2018.
