From self-reliance to reform: PM Modi’s 5 mantras for B-school graduates

“India means business” and the world is realizing it, says PM Narendra Modi Addressing the convocation ceremony at ISB Hyderabad.

Often Indian solutions are being implemented globally, he added. Therefore, “today on this important day, I want to ask you to link your personal goals with the goals of the country”, he said. On this occasion, the Prime Minister gave five mantras to the B-school graduates:

improvement required: The Prime Minister said that the need for reforms has always been felt in the country, but there has always been a lack of political will. The country has long seen a lack of political will due to the continuous political instability over the past three decades. Because of this the country stayed away from reforms and taking big decisions. Since 2014, our country is seeing political will and continuous reforms are also taking place. When reforms are undertaken with determination and political will, public support and popular support are ensured. He cited the example of adoption of digital payments among the people.

Flexibility and Strength: The Prime Minister said the resilience and strength of the health sector was proven during the pandemic. Concerns were being raised about Kovid vaccines whether foreign vaccines would be available or not. but India Developed own vaccines. So many vaccines have been made that more than 190 crore doses have been given in India. India has also sent the vaccine to more than 100 countries of the world. He also talked about the expansion of medical education.

Cooperation gives better results, The Prime Minister also said that the bureaucracy has also contributed strongly to the reform process. He credited the people’s participation in the success of the government’s plan. He said that when people cooperate, quicker and better results are ensured. Now government reforms in the system, bureaucracy performs and people’s participation leads to change. He asked the students of ISB to study this mechanism of Reform, Perform and Transform.

The need to find the right talent: The prime reason why we are witnessing phenomenal performance in every sport after 2014 is because of the confidence of our athletes. He said that confidence comes when the right talent is discovered, when talent is at hand, when there is transparent selection and better infrastructure is available for training, competition. He said that due to reforms like Khelo India and TOPS scheme, we can see the change in the game before our eyes. Similarly, he described the Aspirational District Program as a great example of performance, value addition, productivity and motivation in the public policy sector.

Be independent: He stressed the need to give small businesses more opportunities to grow and help them connect to new local and global markets. Underlining his immense potential, the PM said that to make India future ready, we have to ensure that India becomes self-reliant. He saw a great role for the students of institutions like ISB. “All you business professionals have a big role to play in this. This will be a great example for you to serve the country”, he concluded.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to those who have contributed in taking the Institute to its present glory. He remembered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who had dedicated this institution to the nation in 2001. Since then more than 50 thousand officers have passed out from ISB Hyderabad.
