Actor James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther in the popular 90s sitcom Friends, died on Sunday after battling prostate cancer. He was 59 years old. Soon after, his co-stars and show makers took to social media to express their condolences. Bollywood Celebrities also attended. Tyler’s character Gunther was obsessed with Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel on the show, and the actress shared an iconic scene from the sitcom featuring Rachel and Gunther that made fans even more emotional.

Lisa Kudrow, who plays Phoebe Buffett on the show, wrote, “James Michael Tyler, we will miss you. Thank you for being there for all of us. #jamesmichealtyler.”
Matt LeBlanc, who plays Joey on the show, shared a picture of his two characters interacting and wrote, “We had a lot of laughs friends. you will be missed. Rip off my friend.”

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also remembered the late actor.
James Michael Tyler revealed his diagnosis of Stage IV prostate cancer in June of this year. According to a member of Tyler’s family, “the world knew him as Gunther (the seventh “Friend”) from the hit series ‘Friends’, but Michael’s fans saw him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband. as knew.” As quoted by news outlet TMZ.
Earlier this year, the actor was unable to be a part of the Friends reunion episode due to his diagnosis. Later he appeared in the special through Zoom call.
“It was bitter, honestly. I was so glad to be included. It was my decision not to be a part of it physically and make an appearance on Zoom, basically, because I didn’t want to downplay it, you know. I didn’t want to be like, ‘Oh, and by the way, Gunther has cancer,'” he said of the reunion.
In addition to Friends, he appeared in episodes of the series and an episode of the 1999 film Motel Blue.
