Australian opener David Warner was seen playing cricket on the streets of Mumbai on Wednesday.

Warner returned to Australia after fracturing his elbow during the second Test against India in Delhi in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which the hosts retained by a 2–1 margin.

Warner has since recovered and returned to India to join his teammates for the upcoming three-match ODI series vs India, which begins on Friday.

On Wednesday, Warner posted a video of himself playing ‘gully cricket’ on Mumbai’s bylines, showing ease on a ‘difficult pitch’.

Warner captioned the video, “Found a quiet road to hit.”

Before getting injured, Warner had not had the best performance during the Test series. Warner scored 1 and 10 in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Nagpur and was another forgettable in the second Test in New Delhi, where he scored 15 in the first innings.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting said in an interview that Warner should have retired after scoring a double century in his 100th Test in December last year.

“Look, I was on the radio a few days ago, back here in Australia, and I thought the best time for Davey to retire, if he was thinking about it, was here in Australia after the Sydney Test match. He had just played his 100th Test in Melbourne and apparently scored 200 in the first innings there. And bowing out in front of his home crowd is certainly the way every player would want to end his career, Ponting told ICC Review.

But recently, Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald said that Warner is part of their final plans for the ICC World Test Championship, which is scheduled to begin on June 7 at the Oval against India.

McDonald said of Warner, “I think you work through that conversation, and how each player ends up is always different.” “Some want to go out a certain way, and others are fine with potentially being out of favour. But for the moment, Dave is fully in our plans for the WTC final, that one-day series (against India) Coming back to Australia, he has recovered from his injury, so we’ll see Dave back in Australian colors on March 17th and we’ll go from there.”
