Former Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, 26 others booked for allegedly beating up BJP leader Sangam Gupta

New Delhi: BJP’s Pratapgarh MP Sangam Lal Gupta on Saturday accused former Congress MP Pramod Tiwari of leading a mob of his party workers to beat up him and his party worker.

Gupta alleged that he was thrashed during a social function in Sangipur block of the district, following which the police had to register a case against 27 people, including the senior Congress leader and his daughter.

In view of the attack on the BJP MP, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya ordered the district administration to take strict action against the culprit, in which Gupta alleged that the attackers even tore his ‘kurta’.

Maurya tweeted, ‘Instructions have been issued for quick and strict action in the incident of attack on BJP MP and BJP’s Backward Classes Morcha National General Secretary Sangam Lal Gupta during Garib Kalyan Mela in Sangipur block of Pratapgarh district.

“Not a single guilty person will be spared,” he said.

After the incident, Acting Superintendent of Police Prakash Dwivedi said that based on the complaint lodged by the MP, a case has been registered against 27 people including Pramod Tiwari, his daughter Aradhana Mishra and 50 unidentified persons under various sections of IPC and CLA.

According to the complaint filed by Gupta, the acting superintendent of police said that the BJP MP reached the venue of Garib Kalyan Mela where Pramod Tiwari, his daughter and Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra were already present at the venue along with their supporters and raised slogans against them. started doing. him, and even assumed an attacking pose. Then Sangipur SHO Tushardutt Tyagi rushed to save Gupta.

It is also alleged that Pramod Tiwari and his workers attacked him. Gupta said Congress MLA Mishra and his supporters abused him and attacked him with the intention of killing him.

The BJP MP said that the security personnel present on the spot saved him from the clutches of the attackers, but at the behest of Mishra, his supporters started thrashing him with stones and sticks, injuring him and his supporters.

He claimed that about a dozen vehicles were damaged.
