Former Australia Test cricketer Michael Slater was charged with violating a restraining order on Wednesday, two months after his arrest on domestic violence charges.

New South Wales State Police said Slater was arrested for the second time on Wednesday morning, after reports he allegedly violated a restraining order, known as a Probable Violence Order, or AVO.

He was taken to Sydney Police Station, where he was denied bail and was to appear in court later that day.

Police said the 51-year-old has been charged with violating restrictions set out in an AVO, using carriage service for “danger/harassment/humiliation” and breaching bail.

This follows similar carriage service charges – which may relate to harassment and stalking via phone or social media – after the domestic violence incident was first reported on October 12.

Opener Slater played for Australia for nearly a decade, scoring 5,312 Test runs before his 2004 retirement.
