Rain in Himachal: Since the flood in Mandi of Himachal Pradesh, the administration is facing trouble. Heavy rains caused flash flood at Khotinalla near Aut on Pandoh-Kullu section. Subsequently, hundreds of passengers were stranded near Aut in Mandi district. The Chandigarh-Manali highway was blocked following flash floods and landslides, officials said on Monday.

“There was a flash flood in Pandoh area, leading to the closure of a 2-lane national highway. Tourists and locals were stuck in traffic on the highway for 3 hours yesterday. Water was diverted and the road was cleared.” Landslides occurred near Pandoh-Mandi due to the ongoing hill cutting, blocking the roads. The road clearing work had to be stopped last night due to continuous intermittent stone pelting and falling. The work was resumed this morning but it will take at least 4 hours to clear the road. Around 40 small cars and a bus carrying 55 students were stranded due to a cloudburst near Parashar. IMD has warned of heavy rain for the next two days. Mandi- Mandi ASP Sagar Chander said, “The Joginder Nagar highway has been cleared.”

Mandi administration officials said restoration work was underway and explosives were being used to blast the heavy boulders blocking the roads.

He said the National Highway-21, which connects Chandigarh to Manali, is expected to reopen for traffic in seven-eight hours.

He said that the passengers have been advised not to go towards Mandi till the road is opened.

Prashant, one of the stranded passengers who was returning, said, “We are troubled since last evening as there was a traffic jam due to the road closure and a large number of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the roads in Aout and Six Mile.” Has happened.” From Chandigarh to Mandi City.

Many parts of Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts also received moderate to heavy rains.

Kangra’s Dharamshala received the highest rainfall with 106.6 mm, followed by Kataula 74.5 mm, Gohar 67 mm, Mandi 56.4 mm, Paonta Sahib 43 mm and Palampur 32.2 mm.

The local weather office has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places on June 27 and 28 and thunderstorm and lightning from June 27-29.

Two killed due to heavy rains in Himachal

Flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Solan and Hamirpur districts and heavy rains in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu on Sunday killed two people, damaged crops, houses and vehicles and swept away livestock.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, one person each drowned in Hamirpur and Shimla districts on Sunday. The rains damaged 11 houses and vehicles as well as four gaushalas.

The state suffered an estimated loss of Rs 78 lakh in the last 24 hours.

Three houses were damaged in Lahaul and Spiti, five in Hamirpur, two in Solan and one in Mandi. Eight vehicles were damaged in Kullu, two each in Lahaul and Spiti and one in Sirmaur.

Traffic was blocked on 126 roads, including two national highways, due to uprooting of trees. Emergency center officials said power supply was also disrupted as 141 transformers were damaged.

Following the cloudburst, water entered four houses in Kheri area of ​​Sujanpur sub-division of Hamirpur district and the panchayat building was also damaged.

According to the latest information, six people are trapped in the waters of Beas near Khanuali village and machinery worth lakhs of Dhaulasiddh power project has been washed away due to the strong current of water in the river. This area is situated on the left bank of the river.
