In-form fast bowler Ollie Robinson has been declared fit to join England’s squad for the Ireland Test, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Tuesday.

Last week, Robinson injured his ankle while playing for county side Sussex. He only managed to bowl eight overs on the third day of the match against Glamorgan at Hove and failed to take the field after lunch.

The decision to carry Robinson off the field was a precautionary action by Sussex coach Paul Farbrace, but with a busy Test schedule involving the Ireland Test and the Ashes, there was concern about Robinson.

Now, the ECB has said that the pacer will join the rest of the squad ahead of the Ireland Test later this week.

“Sussex and England seamer Ollie Robinson had a scan on Monday to determine the extent of some discomfort in his left ankle after playing for Sussex in the County Championship Division Two match against Glamorgan at Hove last week.

The ECB said in a statement: “The scan results have shown that there is no damage to the ankle and Robinson will return to the England men’s Test team later this week ahead of the Test match against Ireland at Lord’s starting on 1 June.” Will join with.”

The all-clear given to Robinson at the start of the Ashes summer is a significant boost for England after several fast bowlers were injured.

England are set to play a four-day Test against Ireland at Lord’s from June 1, which will be followed by the Ashes, but are plagued by some injury concerns.

Ollie Robinson and James Anderson were both named in the squad for the only Test against Ireland, nursing injuries from the County Championship fixtures.

Meanwhile, Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the summer due to an elbow injury. Back-up pacer Olly Stone is also struggling with a hamstring problem.
