Finance minister holds virtual meeting with IMF chief, discusses impact of rising commodity prices – Times of India

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday held a virtual meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and discussed various issues including the impact of rising commodity prices on the world economy.
They also discussed the 16th General Review of quotas by 2023 and the need to ensure under-representation of emerging markets and developing economies.
“FM Mrs. @nsitharaman and Ms. @KGeorgieva, both expressed concern over dwindling focus and global supply of #Covid19 vaccines. FM highlighted India’s achievement in successfully administering 1.79 bn doses, while at the same time helping countries in need 162.9 million doses,” the Finance Ministry said in a series of tweets.

They talked about the impact of global supply chains, rising commodity prices and the potential impacts on the world economy.
Another tweet said, “Finance Minister Smt @nsitharaman and Ms @KGeorgieva suggested that the key question remains on controlling inflation while balancing growth needs.”
The two also discussed the priorities of the IMF Spring Meeting in Washington DC and the G20 Presidency.
India is looking forward to engaging with the IMF for its upcoming G20 Presidency in 2023.
