Father-son duo crack Karnataka SSLC exam together

A father-son duo in Karnataka cleared SSLC or class 10 exams together this year. Rahmatullah had to discontinue his studies after passing 9th standard in 1993-94. Now his son has asked him to give SSLC exam. It was his son who not only encouraged him but also helped him in studies. “If they haven’t passed the SSLC exam, they are of no value,” Rahmatullah said.

Father has secured 333 marks in SSLC exam. Rehmatullah (42) and Mohammad Farhan (16), who lived in Nazarabad, Mysore, studied for exams together. Meanwhile, Mohammad secured 613 marks out of 625. He scored 100 marks in English, Maths and Social Science and got 125 out of 125 in Kannada and 93 in Hindi.

Rahmatullah said that it was his son’s encouragement that motivated him to appear for the exam. He currently works at a clothing store. He wanted to clear SSLC exam. Farhan says that his father used to study with him for three and a half hours a day after coming home from work.

“My son worked as a teacher and filled me with confidence,” said Rahmatullah. He said that he feels happy and proud of his son, who has encouraged him to take the exam and pass it. Farhan wants to become a scientist while he can do diploma in computer science.

Meanwhile, two schools covered by the capital’s Brihat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have scored zero in the SSLC results. Show cause notices have been issued to the heads of these two schools. Many teachers have also been laid off. Two students from the city of Murphy have passed the SSLC exam, those who studied in these schools have only passed the exam.

This time more than 8 lakh students had registered for the SSLC exam. out of which, 85.63 percent students have passed it, This time the score was better as compared to last year’s result. In 2020, total 75.53 percent students passed SSLC, in 2019 it was 73.70 percent, in 2018 it was 71.93 percent, in 2017 it was 67.87 percent, in 2016 it was 79.16 percent. The pass percentage in 2015 was 81.82 percent. In 2021, all students except one were marked as pass.
