Sources said that Maurya, extremely upset with the Congress leadership for being sidelined by the party in the assembly polls, may join the BJP on Thursday, India Today reported.

Maurya, the vice-president of Mahila Congress in Uttar Pradesh, said that ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ has just “remained a slogan”.

“I have worked hard for the people of my constituency. We were used to attracting women’s votes, but when it came to our rights, we were sidelined. I am talking to BJP. Very soon, you will see that I will be with the BJP,” she told Times Now.

Maurya had earlier alleged that there was rigging in the distribution of Congress tickets ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

“They [Congress] Used my face, my name and my one million social media followers for the campaign. But when it came to the ticket for the coming election, it was given to someone else. This is injustice. It is all pre-determined,” Maurya said, reported India Today.
