explained. Know the different types of Kovid-19 and which are the most dangerous

New Delhi: The cases of Kovid-19 in India continue to decrease. In the last 24 hours, only 32,906 new cases were reported in the country. This is the lowest figure for the second wave of Kovid-19. The cases of Kovid-19 are decreasing and there is relief among the people due to the rapid vaccination campaign in various states. But what is worrying among all this is the changing nature of Kovid-19 variants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed concern about the variant. He has described Kovid-19 as a shapeshifter and advised people to be more careful than before. There are many questions in the minds of people regarding the changing nature of the Kovid-19 virus. Today we will answer every question related to different variants of Kovid-19.

What are the variants?

The Covid-19 virus mutates and changes its form. When it passes from person to person, it changes its form several times. During this change, the virus either becomes more dangerous than before or becomes weaker than before. To sum it up, when the virus makes its photocopy inside the body, sometimes one photocopy is slightly different from the previous one. This is called its new variant. The variants are divided into two categories, variant of interest (VOI) and variant of concern (VOC). According to the information, WHO has so far kept 12 variants in different categories.

What is the type of interest (VOI)
You will be surprised to know that till now the Kovid-19 virus has changed its form more than 24 thousand times in the whole world. But in most cases its effects were not so severe or were completely inactive. But when a type shows changes in its structure and its nature after mutation, it is considered to be a different type. Initially, any variant is kept in the category of variant of interest. Scientists research these types, collect data and try to find out whether a particular type of virus is dangerous or not.

What is anxiety type (VOC)
According to the WHO, a type of anxiety virus is a type of virus that spreads very rapidly, increases mortality, reduces the effectiveness of vaccines or thwarts earlier therapies against disease. It is very important to keep an eye on this type when it is changing its nature and structure.

So far 4 variants have been kept in the category of Variant of Concern. These include alpha, beta, gamma and delta variants. At the same time, eta, iota, kappa and lambda have been kept in the category of variant of interest.

Learn about types of anxiety
Alpha Version:
It was first detected in southern England in September 2020, which was later placed in the Variant of Concern category in December 2020. Scientists named it B.1.1.7. This type of victim can become seriously ill within 28 days and die after reaching the ICU. Initially it was considered dangerous but after rapid vaccination it came under control.

beta version:
The beta variant was first found in South Africa in May 2020. In December 2020, it was included in the category of Variant of Concern. According to Johns Hopkins University, it had the potential to re-infect people who had recovered from the Kovid-19 virus. With that said, preliminary data from the researchers showed that the vaccines provided minimal protection against this type. This increases the viral load in the affected person. Scientists named it (B.1.351), (B.1.351.2), (B.1.351.3).

Range Variants:
The Gamma variant was first found in Brazil in 2020. It was included in the category of variant of concern in January 2021. This Kovid-19 variant spreads even faster than the earlier variant. The gamma variant can evade the body’s resistance.

Delta Variants:
The Delta variant was found in India in December 2020, it has been included in the category of Variant of Concern. The scientific name of this variant is B.1.617.2. It is believed that this increases the communication ability. People affected with this type develop hearing impairment, gastric problems and blood clots.

Since its first case, the Delta version has caused fear around the world. Apart from India, this new variant has created havoc in many countries around the world including UK, USA, Russia, Brazil and Singapore. For this reason, the health ministries of many countries including Britain, Germany, Russia have issued warnings.

Delta Plus Variants
This new variant delta plus (AY.1) is composed of a mutation in delta (B.1.617.2) which was first detected in India. Apart from this, a mutation named K41N which was found in the beta version in South Africa also gives its symptoms. Hence it is more dangerous than any other variant. Some virologists have feared that this type is 35-60% more contagious than alpha.

In December 2020, the delta was found in only 1 district, but in March 2021, it was discovered in 52 districts. The delta variant was found in 174 districts. The variant of concern (VOC) was detected in 35 states of 174 districts. VOCs have increased from 10.31 per cent in May 2021 to 51 per cent in June 2021. Delta linked variants will be considered as VOC only. 50 cases have been found in 12 days.

The Union Health Ministry, citing the Indian SARS Cov-2 Genomics Consortium, has cited Delta Plus as a major cause of concern. One type of the virus is considered worrisome when it is more contagious and can cause serious illness. WHO is also eyeing this.

Kappa Variants
After the Delta Plus version of Covid-19, people are worried about the Kappa version. However, the government has treated the kappa version as the version of interest rather than the version of concern. But when asked about this virus in the Health Ministry’s PC, NITI Aayog member VK Paul clarified that Kappa is not a new variant. At present, the government believes that there are not many cases of kappa variants, but the expected third wave of Kovid-19 with different variants has increased the challenge.

lambda variant
This version is believed to have originated in Peru, South America. The World Health Organization (WHO) has given information about lambda variants in its weekly report. The Lambda version of COVID-19 is emerging as a new threat. According to the Ministry of Health of Malaysia, so far it has spread to 30 countries including Britain. So far 6 cases have been identified in the UK and all of them had traveled abroad with the infection before returning home. This version first appeared in Peru.

and
In December 2020, patients infected with the eta variant were found simultaneously in many countries. It was included in the variant of interest category in March 2021.

Yota
Its first case was found in the US in November 2020. After this WHO included it in the variant of interest category in March 2021.
