Every vote counts, CM Mamata Banerjee tells voters of Bhawanipur ahead of bypolls. Kolkata News – Times of India

Kolkata: Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee made a direct appeal to BhawanipurU.S. voters on Wednesday reminded “every one” of them to vote in the September 30 bypoll if they want her to remain Bengal’s chief minister.
“If I do not win this election, I will no longer be the chief minister. Koi aur banega CM so if you want me to remain your CM then each one of you should vote,” she said at the first street-corner meeting of her bypoll campaign in Kiddarpur.
Banerjee will have to become an MLA by November 5 to continue as the chief minister of the state.
“Don’t think that Didi will win easily and hence there is no compulsion to vote. Even if one of you does not vote, it will cost me dearly. This time there should be 100 per cent voting. Trinamool’s campaign managers say turnout is generally low in bypolls and the Trinamool chief’s insistence on “100% turnout” is a message against complacency for both Trinamool workers and their voters.
“Just vote honestly. If you plant a Trinamool tree here, it will become a plant in Delhi.
Banerjee continued the same sequence in her second meeting at Chetla. “I take care of all your needs. I consider you my own. The way I take care of everything, no one will take care of you. The way parents take care of their children, we care for you.” Keep in mind that I have to be an MLA from somewhere to remain CM despite my party having a two-thirds majority. The election has become challenging and your every single vote counts,” she told the gathering in Chetla. .
“Here September 30 is a government holiday. So no one can deduct your salary. Please vote if you want me to continue as chief minister,” she said with folded hands.
“Who will fight against demonetisation if I am not there? Who will fight against NRC? Who will fight against CAA and who will fight against BJP’s riot machinery? Banerjee asked the crowd at Kiddarpur’s Dr Sudhir Bose Road to stop for “didi-didi” slogans and to remind them of the “conspiracy” that led her to defeat in Nandigram in this year’s assembly elections.
Banerjee referred to the agony of waterlogging that citizens had to go through after Monday’s floods. “I remember that there was water logging in Mominpur for several days after Amphan. I then decided to get a pumping station for the area. Kavitirth station will start functioning from December. Work is also underway on a separate pumping station for the Bodyguard Lines. Banerjee’s Kiddarpur meeting scheduled for Tuesday had to be postponed till Wednesday due to waterlogging.
He then reminded the crowd how Kiddarpur used to have water for a week after every rain. “The situation has changed. The region received the heaviest rainfall in several decades and a high tide during the full moon added to the problem. But now Kiddarpur has no water.’ “Just tell us your problem. We’ll solve them.”
“Kiddarpur has always been with me. When I became MP from Jadavpur, Kidarpur voted for me. Kiddarpur was with me when I became an MP from Kolkata South for six times. And it was Kiddarpur that helped me win the by-elections in the 2011 and 2016 elections. I need your vote again this time,” he said, ending his speech with an appeal for harmony.
