Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Rail Development Corporation (K-Rail) has appointed a union under the leadership of EQMS India lieutenant to conduct an extensive environmental impact assessment (EIA) of Silverline Semi-Expressway.
The agreement is to complete the study and submit the report within fourteen months. K-Rail has handed over the letter of acceptance to EQMS India. Other companies in the consortium are EQMS Global Pvt Ltd and Infar Development Consultancy Pvt Ltd.
Other projects undertaken by EQMS India include National Waterway-1 (Jal Marg Vikas) from Allahabad to Haldia, Mumbai Metro Lane, Phase-I expansion of Kochi Metro Rail from Petta to Thripunithura and Phase-II development . To carry out Social Security Assessment Study and Rehabilitation Plan for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor from Kochi Metro JLN Stadium to Infopark via Kakkanad.
Earlier, K-Rail had done EIA expeditiously as part of preparation of Detailed Project Report. The agreement includes a detailed Rehabilitation Action Plan (RAP), an Indigenous People’s Plan (IPP), and an Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
The aim of the new study is to identify the environmental impacts of the proposed semi-high speed rail line and prepare a socio-environmental management plan to mitigate them. “The study will ensure that the plan complies with existing national and state laws,” said K rail officials.
