  • Only 73 overs could be bowled on the first day of a test match.
  • Cloudy weather on the fourth day of the Test match
  • England’s batting interrupted by rain

It could be a great day to bat at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham with minimal chances of rain interruption on the fourth day of the fifth Test between England and India.

The visitors are in a strong position and are leading the hosts by a huge margin of 257 runs. With Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara batting together, India have the ideal combination of fire and ice to counter the English attack on a day when the ball cannot swing much. Cloudy skies are expected in the early hours of the day, however, after lunch the rest of the day should be quite pleasant with the sun peeping out through the clouds.

It will not be very good for England, who have been found ineffective in the first innings of the game against the counter-attacking innings of Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.

India have a long batting line-up after these two, led by Shreyas Iyer, who are looking to make amends for their mistakes from the first innings.
Data from the United Kingdom’s Meteorological Department shows that if the wind is going below 10 kmph and the chance of rain is going to be below 10 percent for the whole day.

England still need seven wickets to finish off the Indian batting line-up and will be expecting the full wrath of badsball whenever they next come out to bat in a Test match.
