Heavy rain prevented England from completing a possible whitewash of their One Day International series against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The third and final ODI was called off later in the afternoon, but not before England could respond to Sri Lanka’s uncompetitive 166 in 41.1 overs.

Surrey seamer Tom Curran claimed 4-35.

England had already won the series 2-0 in the first two ODIs with comfortable wins by five and eight wickets respectively.

Dasun Shanaka After the captaincy of England, Sri Lanka recovered from 87-6 in the 21st over and scored 48 not out in 65 balls. Eoin Morgan Won the toss and elected to field at County Ground in Bristol, South West England.

England beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20I series.

It was a significant return to form for Curran, who went without a wicket in his last five matches in both the white-ball formats. He failed to take a wicket in 34 overs in three ODIs and two T20Is – raising questions about his place in the full-strength side.

New-ball bowlers Chris Woakes and David Willey shared wickets as Sri Lanka trailed 42-4 in the powerplay.

In the only change in the England squad, Woakes replaced Mark Wood.
