VADODARA: An female employee of Bhailal Amin General Hospital was booked for cheating the hospital of Rs 15 lakh. Pinal Manvar worked in the finance department of the hospital. Manvar was assigned the job of collecting cash and cheque deposited towards the bills from the cashier.
Police said that Mavar used to deposit the money in the hospital’s bank account. During the audit of the accounts earlier this year, the hospital authorities realised that Rs 28.10 lakh was not deposited by Manvar in the bank account. The other employees in the finance department said that they had handed over the money to Manvar.
When questioned, Manvar claimed that some new accounting system had been introduced and hence the money wasn’t showing deposited in the bank account. In May this year, she deposited Rs 10.30 lakh in the hospital’s bank account but the balance amount was still missing.
On August 2, Manvar admitted that she had spent the balance Rs 17.80 lakh towards personal expenses. She then transferred another Rs 2 lakh from her account to the hospital’s bank account.
The hospital authorities registered a complaint against Manvar on Tuesday night as she failed to deposit the remaining Rs 15.80 lakh.
