More than half a dozen eminent Indian-American women from different parts of the country were honored at the US Capitol for their remarkable achievement.

Congressman Danny K. Davis presented the awards to these distinguished women at the 10th annual Congressional International Women’s Day gala, jointly organized by the American Multiethnic Coalition and the Multiethnic Advisory Task Force, at the US Capitol here on Wednesday.

Among the Indian-American women honored on the occasion were producer artist Rashana Shah; Ritu Jha, founder and journalist of Indica News; Physician Dr. Kalai C. Parthiban; Social activists Madhu Rohatgi and Chandni Duvvuri; Artist Indrani Davaluri; Popular anchor and host Neelima Mehra and community activist Suhag Mehta.

“It matters a lot when a woman is appreciated for her work. Such appreciation gives her confidence, and motivates her to do better, and gives her the courage to face more challenges,” Ritu Jha said in her acceptance speech.

Congressman Davis congratulated the award winners for their achievements.
