Elon Musk says Donald Trump’s Truth Social app exists because Twitter censored free speech. Time and again, the Tesla CEO attacked Twitter, the company that he now owns, to control what people can post on the platform. As the owner of Twitter, this is said to be the first thing that Musk will change.

Former US President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter in January last year. Following that, Trump decided to launch his own social media platform, an alternative to Twitter. It is called Truth Social. Trump was banned for violating Twitter’s guidelines.

Truth Social is already topping the Apple App store chart in the US, as Musk highlighted on Wednesday. Musk also believes that Truth Social exists because of Twitter. Because “Twitter censored free speech” on the platform, Trump was forced to launch Truth Social, he believes.

Musk suggests Trump change the name Truth Social to Trumpet. “Should be called Trumpet instead!” he noted in one of his latest tweets.

Just when Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, all in cash, it was assumed that he would bring Trump back to the platform. But, it looks like the former US President is done with Twitter and doesn’t wish to make a comeback, even if the microblogging site reinstates his account. He said he would instead be on Truth Social.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth,” the former US President told Fox News.

Twitter banned Trump in January last year for violating Twitter guidelines and policies. Trump’s account was suspended 12 hours after he called the people who stormed the US Capitol “patriots”.
