Eid –ul- Adha 2023: Why Is Bakrid Celebrated? Wishes, Messages To Share With Your Friends And Family

Muslims around the world celebrate two major festivals – Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. Eid ul Fitr is celebrated at the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan, and is commonly called Meethi Eid as siwaiyan or kheer are the main dishes. Eid ul Adha is called Bakra Eid or Namkeen Eid because the dishes are generally salty and made from the meat of a sacrificial animal. Public prayers are an important factor in both the festivals.

Two important reasons for Eid-ul-Azha

Firstly, during Eid-ul-Adha we remember the spirit of Prophet Abraham and how he was willing to sacrifice the person dearest to him, his son, because it was Allah’s command for him.

Second, Eid-ul-Adha marks the end of the Haj pilgrimage period, which is the 5th pillar of Islam (the other four are declaration of faith, prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Every year, about 3 million people visit Mecca and Take a pilgrimage together.

Eid ul-Adha occurs every year on the tenth day of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah, depending on the visibility of the moon. It is the day of thanksgiving when Muslims gather in a joyful atmosphere and express their gratitude to Allah for helping them complete their journey on the right path.

Muslims pray in a special way today and remember this noble act of sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim by slaughtering an animal himself. People visit each other’s house and share a festive meal with special dishes, beverages and sweets. Children get gifts and sweets on this happy occasion. Muslims meet their loved ones. Delicious Muslim dishes and drinks are served to make it a festival to remember for a long time.
