Durand Cup 2021: Bengaluru FC kick off campaign in style with 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters

In a dramatic ISL clash at Vivekananda Yuva Bharathi Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, former ISL Champions Bengaluru FC (BFC) started their campaign in spectacular fashion with a 2-0 draw against Kerala Blasters. Won victory. The southern side of India eventually finished with eight men on the field.

Namgyal Bhutia and Leon Augustine scored for the team led by Naushad Musa.

Kerala Blasters started the game well and dominated the opening half of the first half. He created a lot of chances but failed to convert. He had his first real chance to score in the 33rd minute when a brilliant shot from Srikuttan was saved by Lara.

Again in the 38th minute, Luna made a shot on goal via a free kick and he nearly scored, but BFC keeper Lara again came to the rescue.

RV Hormipam was the first to go in the 64th minute, followed by Sandeep Singh and then it was Yendrembam Denachandram Meitei’s turn to get the marching order.

In the 71st minute, Leon Augustine hit BFC’s second goal – a brilliant cross by Harmanpreet had been predicted by him and went in after Albino stumbled from the opening goal.

Lara was adjudged the man of the match for his outstanding effort under the BFC bar.
