Dubbed Dialogues From ‘Ramayana’ Played At Noida Bar’s Dance Floor; One Arrested

Noida: Noida Police on Monday said it registered an FIR and arrested a person after an allegedly dubbed video of TV serial Ramayana was played on a big screen inside a resto-bar in the city. The police action came after a short clip of a dubbed video of the serial surfaced on social media, drawing outrage from many internet users.

The purported video features the characters of Lord Rama and demon king Ravana with modern music playing in the background, which has apparently angered some social media users.

“The video went viral on social media on Monday morning and is being attributed to Lord of the Drinks resto-bar located at Garden Galleria Mall. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, an FIR was registered at Sector 39 police station,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Shakti Awasthi said.

“A case has been registered against three persons in the matter and one of them has been arrested,” he said.

According to the police, the arrested person is the manager of the resto bar.

Police said sections 153A (acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony, or likely to disturb the public peace) and 295 (damaging or desecrating a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the Indian Penal Code FIR has been registered under.

Sharing the video of the clip on Twitter, an internet user threatened to vandalize the resto-bar.

A user tweeted, “This video is being played openly in Noida and making fun of Hindu religion.
