DU: Brawl between ABVP-Left group students over protest for release of Prof GN Saibaba, several injured

New Delhi: Thursday, December 1, 2022 Several student activists were injured after a fight broke out between a Left-affiliated student group and the RSS-affiliated ABVP near the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute on the Delhi University campus. Both sides have accused each other of taking the initiative. Conflict. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad said it has lodged a complaint with the Maurice Nagar police station. There was no immediate reaction from the police on the incident. The incident took place during a protest organized by the Bhagat Singh Chatra Ekta Manch (BSCEM) demanding the release of Professor GN Saibaba.

In a statement, the group claimed that their members were attacked during a peaceful protest at Delhi University’s North Campus. Around six members of BSCEM and some members of ABVP were allegedly injured in the commotion.

The group said, “Since this morning, we were campaigning for GN Saibaba in Delhi University’s north campus. Patel chest was attacked by ABVP at around 4 pm, in which many members of BSCEM suffered injuries.” Huh.” in the statement.

It claimed that when he went to Hindu Rao Hospital for treatment, he was heckled by ABVP members.

“They did not allow treatment for the injured and created ruckus in the hospital,” BSCEM said.

Meanwhile, ABVP alleged that the group misbehaved with a woman ABVP worker and started assaulting its workers.

In a statement, the ABVP said, “Some outside leftist anti-social elements passed lewd and obscene remarks on the student activists of ABVP studying in DU. They also attacked us with sticks and rods, in which two ABVP activists were injured.”

It also alleged that when the members of the group came to the rescue of the woman, the BSCEM men used casteist and gender-discriminatory slurs at them.
