In yet another incident of drunken misbehavior on flights, an Indian man was caught for urinating on his co-passenger at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, officials said on Monday.

According to officials, the passenger was under the influence of alcohol and during an argument he urinated on his co-passenger. The incident took place on American Airlines flight AA 292 coming from New York to Delhi. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) nabbed the alleged “raging” passenger after the plane landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport at around 9 pm on Sunday.

The airlines reported the matter to the Delhi airport before landing and both the passengers were later handed over to the Delhi Police. Sources said that the aggrieved passenger has lodged a formal complaint.

Delhi Police said, “Legal action has been taken under non-cognizable offenses of Civil Aviation Act. Action was initiated following complaint given by airlines staff about unruly behavior of passengers. No evidence or complaint provided.” About co-travellers that someone is urinating on them.”

The civil aviation watchdog, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, issued a statement taking cognizance of the incident. It issued a statement, “An allegedly intoxicated passenger (arriving from New York by American Airlines) accosted himself to another passenger. American Airlines has recorded the statements of co-passengers and the passenger will be prosecuted.” Enforcement has been handed over. An FIR has been registered.”

In the recent past, there have been incidents of passengers urinating on co-travellers allegedly after consuming alcohol. On November 26 last year, an inebriated man allegedly urinated on his female co-passenger in her seventies in the business class of an Air India New York-Delhi flight. The matter came to light in January and the Delhi Police arrested the man a few days later. Air India had imposed a 30-day travel ban on him.

The second such incident was recorded on Air India Paris-New Delhi flight on December 6, 2022, when a passenger allegedly prostrated himself on an empty seat and on the blanket of a fellow female passenger when she went to the toilet Was.
