India on Wednesday successfully test-fired an indigenously designed High-Speed Expandable Aerial Target (HEAT) exercise. It has been tested by DRDO from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha. It will target the missiles directly. This combat drone can also be used as an aerial target for surveillance of multiple missile systems.

Drone will work automatically
This target is designed to work fully automatic. This means that this drone works under the control of a fully automatic system and no pilot is required to use it. This drone is capable of air-to-air combat.

low altitude test
Improved and accurate performance during test flight. It was flown at a low altitude so that future sea-skimming missiles like BrahMos could be tested. The aerial vehicle was launched during the test using twin under-slung boosters. It is powered by a small gas turbine engine, which maintains the flight at subsonic speed.

Defense Minister congratulates on successful test
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and the Indian Armed Forces for the successful test. He said that the development of this system will meet the requirements of air targets for the armed forces.

VL-SRSAM was launched
Recently on June 24, the VL-SRSAM missile was successfully test-fired. This test was done from the ship of Indian Navy off the coast of Chandipur in Odisha. VL-SRSAM is a warship-launched missile. This missile is so dangerous that it can rapidly destroy different types of air threats. Its speed and fire power are so lethal that it cannot even be caught in the radar.

warship will be used in
The Indian Navy has not given any name to the VL-SRSAM missile at present. It is planned to be installed in warships instead of Barak-1. Its weight is 154 kg. It has been made jointly by DRDO and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). It is about 12.6 feet long. Its diameter is 7.0 inches. It is fitted with a high-explosive pre-fragmented warhead.
