‘Act of terror’: Asaduddin Owaisi condemns killing of Udaipur tailor

New Delhi: Terming the killing of a tailor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur as an “act of terror”, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday (June 29) said that he hopes that Rajasthan Government will take strict action in this matter. Blaming the Rajasthan Police for not taking timely action on the complaint of alleged death of tailor Kanhaiya Lal, Owaisi said, “The Udaipur incident would not have happened had Rajasthan Police been alert. I read in the media that Kanhaiya Lal was receiving threats. He was arrested and released on bail.” The Hyderabad MP said, “Kanhaiya Lal’s murder, and previous incidents where ‘videos of barbaric acts’ such as the killings of Pehlu Khan, Mohammad Akhlaq and Mohammad Bhatt were all “acts of terror” and showed that bigotry is a society. On Kanhaiya Lal’s killers threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his video, the AIMIM chief said there may be ideological differences but it does not mean that the PM can be threatened.

Owaisi also reiterated his demand for the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for his controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.
