In an effort to make the online portal and its associated features more accessible and user-friendly, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled an updated version of its upgraded m aadhaar app In which additional 35 online Aadhaar related services are available with the convenience of mobile phones.

UIDAI tweeted information about the new update to the app, along with links to the iOS Apple Store and Google Play Store. In a separate tweet, UIDAI requested users to uninstall the previous iterations of the app and then install the latest with all updates. It should be noted that most of the services listed in the app are already available through the website, but the app expands that reach into an additional layer.

Here are the board strokes highlighting key features, new and old, of the app.

1) Language Diversity: To ensure that the language barrier does not hinder people from accessing the facilities, the app comes in 13 different languages, one of which is English. Other Indian languages ​​include Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

2) Universality: The app can be used regardless of whether one has an Aadhar card or not. However, an Aadhaar registered profile is required to avail the app’s Aadhaar services.

3) Services: The services of the mAadhaar app are categorized into three main groups – ‘The Main Service Dashboard’, ‘Request Status Services’ and ‘My Aadhaar’ section.

The ‘Main Seva Dashboard’ allows users to download Aadhaar card, order reprint, update address, modify mobile number, download eKYC offline, show or scan QR code, verify Aadhaar, verify mail/email, UID/ Request EID and even an address verification letter.

The ‘Request Status Services’ option lets users check and track the status of Aadhaar or various other online requests.

‘My Aadhaar’ section for users Personalized section where one does not need to enter Aadhaar number to avail Aadhaar services. This section also provides the user the facility to lock/unlock his/her Aadhaar or Biometric authentication.

Additionally, the ‘Enrollment Center section’ on the app, is an added benefit that lets users find the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre.

4) Paperless e-Verification: Users can share a QR code and password protected eKYC. This will allow them to conduct secure and paperless verification.

5) More Security: The app uses a time-based one-time password (OTP) instead of the standard SMS based OTP.

6) Virtual ID Management: User can generate a Virtual ID and likewise have up to 3 profiles in his profile section on the app. Profile data can also be updated on the app.
