Dornier-228 flight: First made in India commercial flight reaches Arunachal from Assam, welcomed with water cannon

The Made in India Dornier-228 aircraft made its first flight on Tuesday. It operated between Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. The first FTO i.e. Flying Training Organization for the North Eastern Region was also inaugurated at Lilabari, Assam before the flight of the aircraft. To date, the Dornier 228 aircraft were only used for the military.

The 17-seater Dornier-228 is capable of day and night operation. This light transport aircraft will facilitate regional connectivity and better connectivity in the North Eastern states. It is capable of taking off and landing on short runways in mountainous terrain. According to the information, this aircraft will first fly from Dibrugarh to Pasighat and in the next 15 to 20 days to Tezu and Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh.

The first Dornier-228 aircraft was received on 7 April.
This aircraft has been made by the government company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and this air service will be operated by the government airline company Alliance Air. Alliance Air had signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in February. There was talk of supplying two 17-seater Dornier-228 aircraft. The airline received its first Dornier 228 aircraft on 7 April.

The Dornier-228 can fly during day as well as night.

Will help in increasing connectivity
Under the ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN)’ Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has given priority to the North Eastern Region (NER). This has helped in increasing inter and intra connectivity for NER. He believes that the development of NER is not only a part of strategic importance, but also part of India’s development. Connectivity is essential in NER.

With the operation of this plane, the people of North East will now get a lot of convenience.

Besides the Civil Aviation Minister, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu were also present at the inauguration ceremony. On the other hand, Secretaries of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Rajiv Bansal, Usha Padhi and Amber Dubey, Joint Secretaries of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and other leaders of the State Governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, officers of Alliance Air were also present.
