Gambhir feels that T20 cricket has been prepared for ups and downs and a team like Afghanistan can do a lot if they play to their potential.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has said that taking a team like Afghanistan lightly can prove to be costly as “anybody can beat anyone” in T20 matches. Talking to Star Sports’ game plan, Gambhir asked the teams to be careful with Afghanistan. You also cannot take Afghanistan lightly. I have always believed that if you want to talk about any one team that is going to be a real underdog in this tournament, it has to be Afghanistan. Besides that, they have people like Rashid Khan, Mujeeb and Mohammad Nabi, you can’t take them lightly.”
He continued: “Yes, anyone can beat anyone in the T20 format because it is a very individual type of format, and we should not take any team lightly. For example, you should take Afghanistan lightly. Don’t take it. People like Rashid Khan can harass.”
Earlier he had said that Group 1 could be the ‘Group of Death’ as there are many giants in it.
“Group 1 is a group of deaths, and it’s a really real group. You’ve got four teams in there and they’re playing on the first day of the T20 World Cup, which is going to be very exciting on Saturday. The kind of firepower it has. With that West Indies have always been unpredictable – they can win a third time too. England’s got firepower; they’ve probably got the most consecutive white-ball team in the last few years after winning the 50-over World Cup. Australia really off the radar Got out, probably because a lot of the core players are missing, but then again, I think they can be very dangerous on that particular day.”
