Dhanbad, Jharkhand: Massive Fire At Ashirwad Residential Building, 14 Dead

Fourteen people were reported dead in a massive fire that broke out in an apartment in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad on Tuesday. The fire broke out at Ashirwad residential tower in the city, injuring several people, officials said. A senior police officer said, “Several people are reported to be trapped.” He said the exact number could not be confirmed as the rescue was still underway. Further details are awaited.

SSP Dhanbad Sanjeev Kumar told that 14 people have died and 12 others have been injured in the accident. The incident took place when several people were present in the apartment to attend a wedding ceremony.

“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. We are focusing on the rescue. The injured have been hospitalised,” Kumar said.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has also condoled the deaths. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren tweeted, “The district administration is working on a war footing and treatment is being provided to those injured in the accident.”
