Detained under 79 Goondas Act. Coimbatore News – Times of India

Salem: In order to bring down the crime rate, the city police is repeatedly enforcing the Goondas Act on the criminals.
Police Commissioner Najmul Hoda said that out of 79 Goonda Act cases, 45 were registered between June 1 and September 9. While 10 people were detained for theft, six for POCSO offences, one for bootlegging and black marketing, two for drug peddling and 14 for immoral trafficking.
Hoda said the meat trade is rampant in the city of Salem. He said that the racket is being run under the guise of spa. “We launched a crackdown in the first week of August and imposed the Goondas Act on people involved in the prostitution, the highest in the history of the Salem city police.”
