Surat: A 31-year-old female homeopath doctor killed her mother and younger sister before attempting suicide at her home in Katargam area on Saturday night.
Darshan Prajapati injected heavy doses of sedation to his mother Manjula (59) and younger sister Falguni (29), a school teacher, before taking 26 sleeping pills.
His elder brother Gaurav’s timely action helped save his life on Raksha Bandhan.
The police have registered a case of murder of her mother and sister on Darshana. Gaurav had lodged a complaint at Chowk Bazar police station. She is recovering with timely treatment.
Police recovered a suicide note from the house in which Darshan claimed that she was fed up with life and did not wish to live. “She told the police in her statement that her mother and sister were emotionally attached to her and depended on her for most of their needs. He thought their life would become miserable after his death, so he killed them,” said a police officer.
Investigators said Darshan administered him a 10 ml injection of an anesthetic drug, the usual dose of which is only two ml for patients. Since there was not enough quantity of this medicine left in the house, he took sleeping pills.
In her statement, Darshana told the police that she gave this injection to the mother and sister saying it was a pain reliever as they both had joint pain.
Married Gaurav told the police that there was no dispute between the family members. Police claimed that after Darshan recovers, further investigation will help in finding out the exact reason. Gaurav and his wife had gone to Mumbai three days ago and were to return on Sunday morning.
The police said that Darshan would have died if Gaurav had not arrived early.
When no one opened the front door, Gaurav entered the house by opening the back door. He was horrified to find his mother and sister dead.
“Seeing that Darshan had consumed some medicine, Gaurav made him urinate by putting his fingers in his mouth. Only quick action by him saved his life,” said the police. He later shifted Darshan to the hospital and his treatment could begin.
Darshana practices as a homeopath doctor in her private clinic which she runs from a rented accommodation. The family lived in a single storey house.
