Demonstration of SSC candidates for jobs, arrested for ‘illegal gathering in Corona’

The job seekers staged a sit-in in front of Education Minister Bratya Basu’s house demanding early recruitment. He later called off the strike. This time the police have arrested two job seekers for illegally gathering in the Corona situation.

Last Sunday, meritorious job seekers called in the first phase of classes IX to XII reached the education minister’s house. Prospective teachers started protesting by putting up posters demanding early recruitment. The poster read, “We are on the road today in the faith given by Eid.” According to police sources, a complaint was lodged at the Laketown police station for protesting in the Corona situation, ignoring the restrictions. Based on that charge, Abu Nasir Gharami and Matiur Rahman were arrested.

Earlier, the job seekers had staged a sit-in in front of the Press Club for 29 days. Later Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met him. Despite the Chief Minister’s assurance that he would not be appointed, they have been protesting in front of Mayukh Bhawan in Salt Lake since last January. After six months of continuous protests, job-seekers, Satan arrived in front of the education minister’s house last Sunday.
