In 2019, Shivinder Singh and his elder brother Malvinder Mohan Singh were arrested by EOW for allegedly causing loss of Rs 2,397 crore to Religare Finvest Ltd, a subsidiary of Religare Enterprises.

Shivinder’s wife Aditi claimed that Sukesh Chandrashekhar cheated her with several crores of rupees. Later Malvinder’s wife Japna Singh also complained about being duped by people as high government officials.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar was sent on 16-day police remand by a Delhi court in the same case.

The matter came to light when Aditi Singh approached the police on August 7 and said that she had paid crores of rupees to Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who introduced himself as an officer from the Law Ministry.

“I was assured that the central government would be interested in working with my husband after making him an ‘industry consultant’ on committees related to COVID; He asked me to contribute to the ‘party fund’ and assured to hold a meeting with the former law minister or home minister,” Aditi Singh mentioned in her FIR, according to news agency PTI.

Earlier in August, police found that a manager of an RBL bank in Connaught Place and two of his associates were involved in duping Aditi Singh. Manager Komal Poddar and his associates Avinash Kumar and Jitendra Narula were arrested on August 20 for having an affair with Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

The Enforcement Directorate also filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
