Delhi Metro Launches ‘DMRC TRAVEL’ App For Travellers To Buy Mobile QR Tickets

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday launched a dedicated mobile app named ‘DMRC Travel’ for its passengers to create convenient and hassle-free mobile QR tickets for travel on its network. The app was formally launched today by Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director, DMRC in the presence of senior officials from its headquarters at Metro Bhavan. With this new mobile app, passengers can now buy tickets directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to visit ticket counters/vending machines or stand in queues.

Passengers can now experience a quick and efficient ticketing process, thereby saving valuable time during their journey. The app supports various payment methods including UPI, credit/debit cards and wallets, ensuring flexibility and convenience for the users. Passengers can choose their preferred payment option and complete the transaction conveniently from within the app itself.

Apart from this, the app also has other passenger-centric features like travel planner, fare calculator, station information and smart card recharge. The app also shows route information from origin to destination including interchange stations. One can view the transaction history, and rebook tickets for the same origin-destination and return journey.

The ‘DMRC Travel’ app will be available for download on the Android platform, which will soon be launched on the iOS platform as well, thereby allowing a wider range of users to experience the convenience of mobile QR ticketing. Passengers are encouraged to download the app from their respective app stores and explore the features and benefits it provides.

In order to provide such a user-friendly, cashless and faster way of ticketing, DMRC undertook a huge technically challenging task of upgrading its AFC gates, which were already in passenger services, to make these gates operational within one minute. without even closing it. a day in record time.

The entire process was mostly done during the limited time available at night after passenger services ceased, in such a way that all gates were kept open for passengers when services resumed the next day. DMRC has already upgraded more than 60 percent of its AFC gates with QR code scanners and aims to cover the remaining within the next 1-2 months.

With the launch of ‘DMRC Travel’ app, DMRC aims to improve the overall commuting experience of commuters by providing modern and user-friendly ticketing solutions. This initiative is in line with DMRC’s commitment to leverage technology for comfortable movement of its valued commuters.

After successful payment, the app will generate a mobile QR ticket. Present this QR ticket at the AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gate for entry and exit during your journey. The app also provides the option to view purchased tickets in the “View Transactions” menu, allowing you to access and manage your tickets as needed.
