Delhi Metro e-buses: From fares to amenities, here’s everything you need to know

New Delhi: Daily commuters in Delhi will get some respite from the travel woes as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start running its first batch of electric feeder buses on a trial basis from Thursday.

According to news agency PTI, the test will be conducted from Thursday on two metro routes – from Shastri Park metro station to Gokulpuri metro station and Mother Dairy. By October, around 100 e-feeders are expected to be rolled out in a phased manner, which will provide a better last mile commuting experience from 14 metro stations covering 10 routes for the public.

What are the facilities in e-feeder buses?

The specially designed e-buses are equipped with intelligent transport systems like CCTV and GPS. The buses will also have anti-skid, anti-brake locking systems. Such buses with various security features like buses will not run until all the doors are closed. The doors will also not close when an obstacle is detected.

Keeping in mind the challenges of disabled and elderly passengers, these buses will provide ramps and langar for wheelchairs.

How to avail e-feeder bus services?

Delhi Metro commuters with a valid Delhi Metro Smart Card or Metro DTC Smart Card will be allowed to avail the services of these e-buses. Keeping the pandemic in mind, there will be no conductor in these feeder buses. Travelers can use smart cards to pay for cashless travel.

Remember, entry of passengers will be allowed only from stations and the bus will stop at designated stops. Entry of passengers will not be allowed at other stoppages on the route.

Passengers will have to pay Rs 10 for kms zero to four, Rs 15 for kms four to eight; Rs 20 for 8 to 12 km and Rs 25 for journey beyond 12 km.

Buses will also have a panic button and a stop request button in case of any emergency.
