Saxena will be the 22nd LG of Delhi. He has been a student of Kanpur University.

Vinay Kumar Saxena has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi. He is currently the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Saxena will replace Anil Baijal. Baijal had sent his resignation to the President on May 18 itself, which has been accepted.

Vinay Kumar Saxena is the Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission since 27 October 2015. He worked fiercely in the corporate to NGO sector. He is also known as Corporate Scientist. Apart from this Vinay Kumar is also a pilot. Saxena was born on 23 March 1958. He has been a student of Kanpur University.

Saxena’s career
Vinay Kumar Saxena started his career with JK Group as an assistant officer in Rajasthan. After working for 11 years with White Cement Plant, he was promoted in 1995 as General Manager to look after the port project in Gujarat.

After this he became the CEO and later the director of the Dholar Port project. After this, Vinay Kumar Saxena was made the chairman of Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission in October 2015.

Achievements of Saxena
Vinay Kumar Saxena as the Chairman of KVIC has initiated many schemes. He has started many schemes like Honey Mission, Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana, Leather Artisans Empowerment, etc. All these schemes have not only given a boost to Khadi and Village Industries, but the industry has also created new dimensions. Apart from this, he has also inaugurated Footwear Training Center in Delhi to train leather artisans.

Baijal was LG for 5 years and 4 months
Anil Baijal had sent his resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind on May 18, citing personal reasons. Baijal, a 1969 batch IAS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory cadre, took over as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in December 2016 after his predecessor Najeeb Jung stepped down.

He served as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for a period of five years and four months from 31 December 2016 to 18 May 2022. Baijal also served as the Union Home Secretary during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Kejriwal sat on dharna at Baijal’s office
While holding the post of Lieutenant Governor, Baijal was also in controversies with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on many issues. He sat on the dharna.

CM Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the IAS officers are not working in tandem with the elected representatives. Anil Baijal also had a conflict with the Kejriwal government regarding doorstep delivery of ration schemes.
