According to officials, two girl students of a nursing college were allegedly tortured and stripped naked by the hostel warden on suspicion of theft.

A senior police officer said on Wednesday that around 1 pm on Tuesday, a PCR call was received in connection with the incident of alleged harassment and stripping of female nursing students at Ahilyabai College of Nursing, LNJP Hospital.

During enquiry, it was found that two BSc Nursing final year students, living in a college hostel, along with other students and the warden had gone to Mandi House area for a community event.

The officer said the warden found Rs 8,000 missing from his bag and suspected the two students of theft.

It is alleged that the warden, with the help of other students, strip-searched them, but no money was found on them.

After the incident, the family members of the student reached the hostel and complained to the college administration. Police said that they also lodged a complaint with the IP Estate police station about the girls being stripped.

After preliminary investigation, a void FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to insult) at IP Estate police station, he said, adding that the case was transferred to Tilak Marg. Will go police station.

Police said it is learned that a fact-finding committee comprising the principal and other senior teachers has been constituted by the college administration, adding that the warden has been transferred from the hostel.
