Decision on Lok Sabha leadership likely to change in Congress Parliament Strategy Group meeting on July 14

New Delhi: The Parliament Strategy Group meeting of the Congress Party will be held virtually on July 14. Interim President Sonia Gandhi will preside over the meeting.

In this meeting, a final decision can be taken regarding the change of leadership in the Lok Sabha. According to the ‘One Man One Post’ formula, there is a possibility of more changes in the Lok Sabha team.

The monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from July 19 and before that the Congress can take steps towards change of leadership in the Lok Sabha. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, MP from Baharampur seat of West Bengal is the leader of LS Congress. He is also the president of the West Bengal unit of the party.

Earlier there was speculation of Sonia Gandhi replacing Chowdhury, currently, several other names like Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari are being considered.

The monsoon session of Parliament will run from July 19 to August 13. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gave this information on Monday. It will take 19 working days.

Om Birla said that all protocols related to Kovid will be followed during the session. Those who have not received their coronavirus vaccination will be asked to undergo an RT-PCR test before entering the Parliament premises.

Addressing a press conference in the Parliament House Complex, the Speaker said that 323 MPs have been fully vaccinated against Kovid, while 23 MPs have not been able to take the first dose of vaccine due to some medical reasons.

The Speaker, taking stock of the preparations for the upcoming session before today, said that the timing of the session would be from 11 am to 6 pm for both the houses.

The monsoon season, which usually begins in July, began in September last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. An all-party meeting of the leaders of the House will be held on July 18, a day before the session begins.
